Welcome to Nevsky Prospect.
In our town, noses escape their faces, your rank is judged by the coat you wear and dogs sing love songs. Here, time is ruled by the law, but kept by a clock-keeper who wants to get the girl.
The father of modern Russian realism and satire, Nikolai Gogol was a master of the comedy of the absurd. The Rogues present three of his most enduring tales—“Diary of a Madman,” “The Overcoat,” and “The Nose”—using puppetry, masks, music, and digital projection, presenting Gogol’s grotesque world as only the Rogues could imagine.
The Collaborators
Kitty Felde is an award-winning public radio reporter, but she's also been honored for her playwriting. Her Bosnian war crimes play A Patch of Earth won the Maxim Mazumdar New Play Competition. Felde's one-woman show about Teddy Roosevelt´s daughter, Alice, premiered at The National Theatre in Washington, D.C., and played at New York City´s Miranda Theatre. She's co-founder of Theatre of Note and a member of the Dramatists Guild. This is the first time she's written for talking dogs and dancing chairs.
Composer and artist Ego Plum has waged a war against the modern conventions of popular music utilizing an arsenal of unconventional influences. Through several critically-acclaimed CD releases and as musical director of his own 10-piece group The Ebola Orchestra, Ego Plum has continued to push the boundaries of music by creating cinematic compositions with a carnival-esque & surrealist sensibility. Ego recently brought his unorthodox sound to the most popular children's entertainment brand on the planet: NICKELODEON, composing the score for the 2008 show "MAKING FIENDS." Produced in association with the Bootleg Theater and made possible by generous support from The Jim Henson Foundation, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

There are no current plans for a remounted production,
but we are always looking for new opportunities and are confident Gogol
Project will return some day, if not sooner.
