D is for Dog
Rogue Artists Ensemble announces auditions for UNDERSTUDY ROLES in the upcoming remount of their original play, D is for Dog. Past award-winning productions by Rogue Artists Ensemble include Mr. Punch, Gogol Project, and HYPERBOLE: origins, the latter of which was nominated for “Best Production” by LA Weekly.
Auditions will be held on Saturday April 28th, 2012 by appointment only.
About D is for Dog
In the seemingly innocent home of the Rogers family, life is like a 1950s sitcom—or is it? All is not as perfect as it seems. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers and their two darling children, Dick and Jane, must face their history and identity before it is too late, with only mysterious phone calls and a forbidden book as clues.
D is for Dog explores the themes of family loyalty and compassion using iconic imagery from 1950s television blended with startling elements of horror and science fiction. Mixing puppetry, live actors, original music and video projection, the play takes audiences from the absurd to the terrifying, and everywhere in-between.
The most recent production of D is for Dog opened in the summer of 2011 to critical acclaim. D is for Dog received a nomination for “Best Comedy Ensemble” in the 2011 LA Weekly Awards.

Zen Shorts
Rogue Artists Ensemble announces auditions for the role of STILLWATER in the upcoming remount of their original play for young audiences, Zen Shorts, based on a series of books by Jon J. Muth. Zen Shorts premiered this past February at the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts and is the newest addition to Rogue Artists Ensemble’s series of theater for young audiences. The Rogues’ other play for young audiences, Frog Belly Rat Bone, performs regularly in venues throughout California and has toured nationally.
Auditions will be held on Saturday April 28th, 2012 by appointment only.
About Zen Shorts
When a giant Zen master panda named Stillwater moves into their neighborhood, Michael and Addy’s world is changed forever. As the children are faced with tough life lessons, Stillwater weaves three ancient Zen tales for them, full of color, magic and wisdom, intertwining on a backdrop of modern-day technology and complexity. There is always a lesson to be learned no matter how old you are – and Stillwater’s tales are sure to strike a chord in everyone’s heart.
Using their signature Hyper-theatrical style combining puppetry, music, video projections, and innovative prop design, the award-winning Rogue Artists Ensemble brings this popular book’s lovable characters and beautiful stories to life on stage. Produced by special arrangement with Scholastic Books.
The show will go on to have a healthy touring life, as we plan to submit it for inclusion in the Northwest Regional Puppetry Festival and the 2013 summer series at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, GA.
